Well Maintenance

When was the last time you looked at your well? Well maintenance is an important part of taking care of your well water. Proper well maintenance includes inspection, water testing, and disinfection. As a responsible well owner, you need to have a regular program for well maintenance. Go on a self-guided Friendly Visit to identify possible problems with your well.

Taking care of your well is a three-step process:

  1. Protect your well by avoiding, eliminating, or reducing possible contaminants on the surface
  2. Visually inspect your well regularly and do maintenance as needed
  3. Test your well water regularly and respond quickly to contamination problems

To help keep track of your well maintenance efforts, record your activities in your Water Maintenance Diary . Use the Diary to identify trends, reoccurring problems and changes in your well.
